You will work towards our application roadmaps stain-free and section-free histology for cancer diagnosis enabled by stimulated Raman microscopy and label-free phenotyping of relevant cell systems in pharmaceutical research. In this framework you will define technical requirements together with our partners, e.g., University Hospital Münster or Bayer AG, and design novel microscopy setups accordingly. You will work closely with our laser, software, AI and electronics specialists. After set-up and iterative development of prototypes, you will have the opportunity to transfer the prototypes into application.

Your responsibilities:

  • Designing and 3D modelling of mechanical setups, e.g., via Fusion 360
  • Simulation of optical systems, e.g., via Gaussian beam propagation or Zemax
  • Assembly, iterative development, and testing of prototypes
  • Programming of, e.g., Python scripts for hardware control and image acquisition
  • Functional verification and improvement management
  • Coordination of product development together with external service providers
  • If desired: tasks in related fields such as project management, production, service, sales, or PR

Your qualifications:

  • BSc, Msc or PhD in physics, photonics, engineering, or related fields
  • General knowledge of classical and nonlinear optics
  • Understanding of confocal, fluorescence or Raman imaging
  • Comfortable working with laser systems and setting up optical systems
  • Ideally: Experience in setting up confocal or laser scanning microscopes
