Biomedical engineer
You will contribute to our scientific activities on our application roadmaps stain-free and section-free histology for cancer diagnosis and label-free phenotyping of relevant cell systems in pharmaceutical research. In this framework, you will contribute to our activities in replacing classical stains, e.g., H&E with our label-free Raman-based imaging technology. Primarily you will focus together with our image and AI specialists on identifying spatial cell and tissue phenotypes as a new class of biomarker. You will work on linking these spatial phenotypes to disease state, progression, and therapy response. Your work will be in close collaboration with our partners, e.g., University Hospital Münster or Bayer AG.
Your responsibilities:
- Conduction of scientific experiments for the development and validation of medical applications with our imaging technology
- Operation of our custom confocal microscope
- Experiments on fresh tissue sections and in-vitro cell cultures
- Interpretation of label-free image data and comparison with staining and analytic results
Your qualifications:
- Degree in biomedical engineering, biology or related fields
- Comfortable working with digital microscopes
- Practical experience in cell cultures, tissue handling or bio analytics
- Ideally: Knowledge of cancer or cell biology
- High degree of independence and self-initiative as well as ability to work in a team
- Ability and willingness to work with cross-functional teams (R&D and product management)
