We are looking for a

Project manager & developer of microscopy systems

As an essential part of our development team, you will design microscopy systems and integrate them with our laser systems to bring our imaging technology into the hands of physicians and pharmaceutical researchers. You will work towards our application roadmaps stain-free and section-free histology for cancer diagnosis enabled by stimulated Raman microscopy and label-free phenotyping of relevant cell systems in pharmaceutical research. In this framework you will define technical requirements together with our partners, e.g., University Hospital Münster or Bayer AG, and design novel microscopy setups accordingly. You will work closely with our laser, software, AI and electronics specialists. After set-up and iterative development of prototypes, you will have the opportunity to transfer the prototypes into application.

Your responsibilities:

  • Definition of functional requirements for microscope and diagnostic products
  • Design of hardware and selection of components to meet the requirements
  • Assembly, iterative development, and testing of prototypes
  • Coordination of product development together with external service providers
  • Functionality verification and improvement management
  • Designing and 3D modelling of mechanical setups, e.g., via Fusion 360
  • Simulation of optical systems, e.g., via Gaussian Beams Calculations or Zemax
  • Implementation of a quality management system (product development) in accordance with EU regulations for medical products
  • If desired: tasks in related fields such as production, service, sales, or PR

Your qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD in Physics, Photonics, Engineering, or related fields
  • General knowledge of classical optics and nonlinear microscopy
  • Understanding of confocal, fluorescence or Raman imaging
  • Comfortable working with laser systems and setting up optical systems
  • Ideally: Experience in setting up confocal or laser scanning microscopes
  • Relevant software skills for modelling, simulation and controlling or motivation to learn
  • Independent, thorough, and team-oriented way of working
  • Eager for new challenges and hands-on mentality
